Awesome dyed denim tutorial!

I've been meaning to do this tutorial for a while, but I never got around to uploading it till now so better late than never?

Some things you will need:

Pants or shorts

Gloves

Scissors

Fabric dye (you can use more than one color)

Bleach

Studs

A measuring cup

A stainless steel sink or plastic bucket

Please follow the warnings and precautions that came with your bleach. To bleach your shorts put them in your sink or bucket and just pour bleach on them till they are fully underwater, you can add water if you do not have enough bleach to fully cover them. Be careful not to splash bleach anywhere! Let them sit till they have reached the shade you want. I usually let them sit for several hours till they're a very light pale blue almost white color. When they've been sitting in the bleach for a while the water might look yellowish and dirty, don't worry they will be a lot lighter after you wash and dry them. Or you could just skip this whole step if the denim you're dying is already white. (Lucky you :p)

Please follow warnings and precautions that came with your dye. If you're using rit dye like me you can follow these helpful (more helpful than the ones that it came with) directions that I found on http://www.ritdye.com/!

1.Fill sink or bucket with enough hot water for fabric to move freely. Remember: Use 1 package of Rit powder or 1/2 bottle of Rit liquid dye and 3 gallons of hot water for each pound of fabric. Pre-dissolve powder in 2 cups of hot water. Add pre-dissolved powder or liquid to dye bath. Stir to mix.
2.Wet fabric in hot water. Uncrumple and add to dye bath.
3.Stir constantly (back and forth, up and down) for 10 to 30 minutes.
4.Rinse in warm water, then gradually cooler water until water runs clear. Wash item in warm water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly in cool water.
5.Dry item in dryer or air dry.
6.Clean sink or bucket immediately with chlorine bleach or scrub with chlorine-based powder, liquid, or gel cleanser.

Tip: Make sure there are no clumps or lumps in your dye when it's mixed with the water because they will show up as spots on whatever you're dying. If you do end up with spots just run some hot water directly on them and scrub them off.

Again, please follow the warnings and precautions that came with your dye. When ombre dying, the part you want the darkest must sit in the longest. So if you want it darkest at the bottom submerge it in the dye up to where you want it the lightest and wait 5 mins and pull it up out of the dye a little bit more and keep doing this till you've reached the end so it'll look like a really cool gradual fade. Then rinse the denim out again till the water runs clear (be sure not to get the darker dye up into the lighter dye so rinse with the way the colors are going).

After you've drained the dye and rinsed them out put them in the washer again and then dry them when they're done.

Studding is pretty easy it's just tedious. Set the stud on the denim, make sure the prongs are straight and push them closed. It hurts my fingers too much when i do this with no tools so I've been straightening the prongs with tweezers and pushing them shut with the flat part of my crochet hook, you can use whatever works for you.
Tip: It also helps to plan out where you want the studs and how many per row so you don't have to keep going back and correcting mistakes!

And as for aftercare: hand wash cold water!

DIY ice cream shoes (and cheap too!)

For a while I've seen these magnificent shoes floating around the web but I've never been able to find out any information on them for myself, and since I have fallen head over heals for these babies I thought I might as well do a simple tutorial on how to re-create them.

Some things you will need:

Shoes

Clay for the ice cream, cherries, and nuts

Whipped cream clay

Translucent liquid sculpey

Acrylic paint for syrup

Tin foil

Ice cream scooper / measuring spoon

Glaze

Paint brush

Bowl

Cutting utensil

glue

Make two equal sized balls of clay for your ice cream, I'm using a blue moon color. Press your ice cream scooper / measuring spoon into each ball. Take the tin foil and wad it up into a ball and stipple it all over the ice cream to give it realistic texture.

Now take out your cutting utensil and drag it across the middle of the ice cream, make smaller cuts as you get further away from the middle and closer to the bottom. Repeat the first two steps and fiddle it with until you get them to the shape and texture you want.

Roll out your clay for the nuts and cut little triangular shaped pieces out, then put them out of the way for now.

Mix some TLS and acrylic paint in a bowl.

Apply the syrup, I'm using the end of my paint brush you can use what ever works for you.

Make the cherries by rolling out two equal sized balls and put a hole on top of each for the stems. To make the stems simply just roll out a thin cylinder and place it in the hole.

Bake accordingly to the directions that came with your clay.

Use your whipped cream clay and frost the top of your ice cream and place the cherry on top.

Place the nuts in the whipped cream and glue on the rest, I used nail glue, don't judge me, it gets the job done lol.

Glaze all over and then glue to your shoes, again I used nail glue but you should probably use super glue or something.

And here's the final result, I took off the bow that was in the front and re-used it in the back for an extra dose of cuteness! If anyone does this, I hope you enjoy your new shoes! (Images from: http://pvcqueen.tumblr.com/post/2388030327
